First off - I have a lot of water bottles, I use them for biking, hiking, taking to work, in the car... I also have several regular camelbaks. The previous version of these also have a tube that runs to the bottom so you don't have to tip it to drink - but these are much easier to clean. The tube and bite valve pull off the cap - and then all 3 go into the dishwasher. The previous version had the silicone bite valve piece exending through the cap - so they were more difficult to clean, and prone to leaking. These have a sturdy handle which is comfortable to use to carry them, or you can hook it on a carabiner. The bite valve pushes up under the handle if you want to keep it out of the way. No cap to unscrew, no tip to pull out with your teeth, no need to tilt to drink, no leaking, and it's insulated.Goodwill is going to get... As soon as I got it in the mail, I tried it out at home where we keep the temperature at around 73 degrees (in other words, not "hot"). I noticed condensation on the outside of the bottle within the hour. To make matters worse, the bottle does leak. Also, compared to my old insulated stainless steel water bottle, the ice melts way faster, the water doesn't seem as cold, and the water bottle doesn't hold nearly as much water. One positive about this bottle is that I find myself drinking more water due to the novelty of the bite and sip valve.Needless to say, I suggest looking elsewhere. 23 of 26 people found the following review helpful Heavy, bulky, leaky and .., This review is from: Camelbak Better Insulated Bottle (Sports) I bought this bottle to replace my 500ml Camelbak bottle. I really liked the old bottle but the folding bite part broke after 2+ yrs of intense use. This bottle is a lot heavy and feels bulky for a 600ml water bottle. Although I didn't have any leakage problem in the previous one, this one tends to leak, too. Also, contrary to the statement on manufacturer's web site, water condensates outside if the liquid in it is cold (icy water) and if you are in a hot and humid environment. However, the ice in the bottle lasts longer without melting. |
